They say life began from clay...
All the ceramic pieces in the Mixed Media section were hand built, glazed, and fired by me. I like to think they stand out for their juxtaposing rugged tactility against modern graphic narratives. In every piece, the material is the focus. Intentional glaze, intense complimentary pigments, sharp markmaking, even the structural integrity of the vessel — the handmade quality is not solely aesthetic, rather the catalyst for the charm of the story the piece wants to tell. In my work, the narrative is usually an introspection on social dynamics in a modern world that no longer can identify with nature.

These pieces mark my personal tribute to functionality in conceptual artmaking, where “objects” hold a “purpose” aside from their “beauty”. Much of what humanity struggles with is an inability to detach reality from an algorithmically manufactured pseudo-life, and a chronically passive existence that relies on external inspiration to be moved enough to act against the mundane. Growing up on the ranch, I think, reflexively taught me to be disgusted by such mindlessness, the lesson of animals and their short little lives taught me that output and utility are not markers of fulfilment, but effort and mindfulness are. The modern inclination towards minimal effort and maximum output has inspired me to resist over-refinement while creating something that works well, structurally and conceptually.

My work is the result of my own balance of discipline and spontaneity, and my path to relearning what my childhood self saw on the ranch to fall in love with nature this much.
Horse in Movement
NOT FOR SALE | 12” tall ceramic crystal/texture glazed piece (fired 3x) showcasing the many dynamic forms of horses in motion across the vessel. Entirely hand-built. I made it for my mom on Mother’s Day. :)

Toxic Obsession
$135.00 | 3” tall ceramic flower pot with underglaze exterior and “firework” cactus. Explosive emotions can only emerge from deprivation, like the tough little cactus who has lived for so long despite having forgotten the sensation of rain.

The Musician   $95.00 | 7” ceramic vase with underglaze exterior. This piece was exclusively a product of heartbreak, as I quote myself, “I’m going to be happy, f*ck you, Amen.”

Los Pollitos Dicen
$75.00 | 14” wide and 5” tall ceramic planter made out of slipped and scored slabs, which is decorated with sweet little moments on the ranch like lullabies, and longing out the window as the men work. I’ve used it as a planter for 6 scallion bulbs for a year now.

No Mates El Vibe
$115.00 | 9” 3-part ceramic bottle vase with underglaze exterior and crystal glaze interior. Our pets are little watchers of our lives, and often have empathy for us that they can’t express in a way we understand. Much to learn from the cat that sits still in the sunlight.

Chismepot
$245.00 | Ceramic teapot with dark blue underglaze and crystal glaze interior, celebrating feminine spontenaety and the Latin tendency to bring sliced fruits to the beach.
